This 1909 photo by Gertrude Bell shows the eastern wall of the south court at the Mor Cyriacus church. It gives a detailed view of the southernmost of two exedra, showing carved decoration around the arch, and graffiti at right including Greek crosses.Mor Cyriacus is one of a number of Syriac Christian churches dating from the 4th-6th century AD. Many have unique architectural features combining Late Roman building methods with Byzantine elements.Gertrude
