Frequent examples have been found in Agrigento of reliefs stamped on the rims of louteria, basins used for ritual washing. These date to the 6th-5th centuries BC.This relief from a louterion shows the battle with the centaurs (centauromachia), a frequent theme in Late Archaic and Classic period art. |
