Rome: The Baths of Diocletian, tepidarium (van Dodocum 1561)
This
1561 drawing by Lucus van Dodocum shows the tepidarium of the Baths of
Diocletian shortly before it was converted into the church of Santa
Maria degli Angeli. Between 1563 and 1564, Michaelangelo converted the
great domed hall into a Greek cross.
van Dodocum was associated with the artist and publisher Hieronymous Cock, who published the collection of etchings by van Dodocum.
