The
Building of the Charioteers was built during the first years of the reign of Antoninus
Pius (ca. 140 AD).
This
image shows one of the chariot paintings on an interior wall for which
the building is named. This chariot is shown running to the left, and in the hands of the charioteer are the symbols of
victory, a crown and a palm branch.
