In the atrium of the House of Naples (VI 15, 90) , a marble table with two stands  was placed by the impluvium, now stripped of its marble panels. The marble table or stand, called a cartibulum, has legs carved in sphinx form. Such tables were frequently placed in the atrium near the impluvium.

Other examples at Pompeii are in the House of Meleager (V1-09-02) and the Forum antiquarium. An example from Herculaneum was also found in the Late Republican atrium of the House of the Wooden Partition.
