The House of the Golden Cupids (VI 16, 7) is considered one of the best examples of domestic architecture and painting in the age of Nero.

Third Style paintings cover the lower wall of the atrium. Colorful architectural elements with animal, bird, and plant motifs surround a mythical painting at center The backgrounds are frequently white and the images present a clarity due to precise, fine line draftsmanship combined with bright colors.
