This
view, taken in front of the Samnite House entrance, looks east
along the Decumanus Minor, with Insula V at the left and Insula IV at
right, to the south. Ahead is the intersection with Cardo V and beyond,
the Palestra.
The doorway with columns at left is that of the
House of the Grand Portal (Ins V, 16), once the area of the peristyle
garden of the Samnite House.
