This 1857 photo by Antonio Beato shows the complex of buildings including the Tomb of David, which is located just outside the Zion Gate, or Gate of David, at the southwest corner of the walled city. The Tomb and the earliest parts of the complex have been dated by archaeological excavations to the Early Iron Age (1000-500 BC).
