Jerusalem: Temple Mount, Wailing Wall (Bonfils 1867-71/NYPL Archive)
This photo by Bonfils dated 1867-71 shows a detailed view of worshippers grouped along the section of the western wall of the Temple Mount known as the Wailing Wall. The huge stone blocks in the wall dates from the time of Herod the Great (1st century BC).
