Dionysias: House foundations from the Ptolemaic period
. House foundations at Dionysias. Foundations of various municipal building and house structures have been uncovered in a series of excavations at Dionysias, beginning in the 1940s by Schwartz and Wild (1950) who discovered remains of the ancient Roman fort. More recent investigations by the Egyptian Antiquities Department, and an Italian expedition in 2013 have uncovered various non-military structures include three Roman baths, and remains of Roman villas, some with interior wall paintings. |
