Lahun: Plan of four 12th Dynasty tombs beside Pyramid of Senusret II
. Plan of four tombs at southeast corner of Pyramid (after Brunton 1920, pls. 1+2) This plan by Brunton (1920) shows the location of four tombs excavated in 1913 just outside the south end of the Pyramid of Senusret II (1897-1878 BC). At right is Tomb 8, where Sat-Hathor, a granddaughterof Senusret II, was buried in about 1838 BC. While all the tombs had been looted in ancient times, Sat-Hathor's tomb still held a casket of finely-crafted jewelry of gold and precious stones, a unique treasure discovered by Guy Brunton during the 1913 project. |
