Dionysias: papyrus document with a petition from AD 315
. Papyrus document from Dionysias dated AD 315 (cat. JE 49499; oxford-ipap.apis.2144). This papyrus, one of several found in the Roman town of Dionysias, contains a petition dated AD 315, during the reign of Constantine I and Licineus. Most of the left edge of the document is missing, with only a small fragment indicating the full width of the page. Enough is there, however, to enable a significant recovery of the text. This concerns a petition to the eparchos, a local official, by a man named Sious concerning an abduction of his daughter Sioutos, and offering the names of witnesses. |
