Dahshur: Portrait sculpture of Amenemhat III (12th Dyn).
. Sculpture of Amenemhat III (Univ. College London). The eldest son of Thutmose III and his chief wife Satiah, Amenemhat III was originally designated the ruling heir of his father. When both Amenemhat and his mother Satiah died before the 35th year of the reign of Thutmose III, however, the king married Hatshepsut, who had several children. These included a son, Amhenhotep II, to whom the royal succession eventually passed, after a co-regency with his father. |
