Hawara: Colossus (Petrie, 1891)     .

Hawara, a site in the Fayum region, had a mammoth statue or colossus in one of its walled compounds. When Petrie excavated Hawara, the colossus statue was spread around the site in hundreds of fragments. The drawing above shows Petrie's reconstruction of the colossus.
