This larger-than-life limestone head (height: 35 cm) was originally part of a statue of St. Benin, which formed part of a group of sculptures at the west portal of the Abbey Church in Dijon.
It is considered to be part of the corpus of an unidentified master sculptor from the early Gothic period, who also carved the tympaneum of the Abbey refectory.
