This
limestone statue, found in fragments at the bottom of an ancient well
in Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer in 1943, portrays the Gallic Mother Goddess. She
is traditionally shown seated in a chair with a child standing at
either side.In this case, she is portrayed wearing a diadem, with a torc around her neck, and two brooches (fibulae). The statue dates from the 1st century BC.. |
