This terracotta figurine of a woman, found at Lisieux, dates from the 2nd century AD. The hair and facial features are neatly done, while the large ears appear to be exaggerated or caricature-like.Lisieux, located about 25 miles (40 km) east of Caen, was occupied from the 1st century AD onward by
Roman settlements, with at least two necropoli from different time frames. |
