Baalbek: Temple of Venus, plan
Baalbek: Temple of Venus, plan (Frauberger 1892) | ||
Located southeast of the Acropolis, the Temple of Venus was built ca. AD 220 during the Severan period. As this plan by Frauberger shows, it has a unique circular plan with five concave wall sections connected by Corninthian columns. The entranceway is approached by broad staircase with a colonnade at the top.. |
