Miocene echinoids from Sicily and Malta (after Boccone 1674, p.296, bottom)
Paolo
Boccone (1633-1704), primarily known as a botanist, also joined
artist-naturalist Agostino Scilla recording marine fossils in Sicily
and Malta.
Some of these findings, such as these drawings of Miocene echinoids, including "sea urchin"
fossils, were published in 1674 in a revised edition of Boccone's Recherches et observations naturelles.
