Selinunte: plan of Acropolis (650-250 BC)

Selinunte: Acropolis plan  (Athena Review Image Archive)

The oldest extant Acropolis structures at Selinunte are Temples C and D (600-525 BC), and Temple Y (ca. 570 BC), of which only a triclinium altar remains. Earlier temples existed but were covered by later buildings. To the south, Temples A and O date from the 5th ccntury BC.

Selinunte was conquered by Carthage in AD 409, forcing Greek expulsion. The Acropolis was then settled by Punic colonists, who used the former sanctuary zone as a residential area.Temple B was built in that later era.
