A number of altar relief fragments called arule have been found in Agrigento which date to the 6th-5th centuries BC. Many date to the construction of the Temple of Zeus in 480 BC.

This relief fragment from an altar shows the goddess Artemis with a deer. Artemis was the Greek forerunner of the Roman goddess Diana.
