Agrigento: Seated female figurine (Mus.Agrigento; photo Athena Review 2004)


This seated female fgurine (S 900) has a tall headdress (polos) associated with female divinities in the cult of Demeter and Persephone at Agrigento.  It belongs to a group of figurines of women wearing varied dress with polos, dating to the 5th century BC.

The figurine retains traces of white paint.
