Agrigento: Standing female figurine (Mus.Agrigento; photo Athena Review 2004)


This female figurine (S 917), from the Sanctuary of the Underworld Divinities at Agrigento, represents a standing lady carrying a small pig. It belongs to a group of figurines of women bearing offerings of torches and small pigs, which date to the 5th and 4th centuries BC.
