Tivoli:  Temple of Vesta (1856 photo)

Tivoli: The Temple of Vesta (McPherson 1856)

The circular temple, dating from the Late Republican period, has been attributed to both Vesta and the Sibyls, although its ancient dedication remains unknown. It had 18 fluted Corinthian columns, of which ten remain, and frieze reliefs also preserved which may be seen at the top of this image

This 1856 albumen print by McPherson also shows the uppermost of two levels of  vaulted rooms underlying the temple, which have now been walled in with windows.
