Rome: Temple of Concord (1656 drawing)

Rome: Temple of Concord (Bella, 1656)

This 1656 drawing of columns and a lintel fragment from the Temple of Concord is by the 17th century Italian artist Stefano della Bella (1610-1664). The columns were at that time about 2/3 buried by soil accumulation in the Forum.

These conditions are similar to those shown in a drawing by Piranesi of the nearby Temple of Vespacian, dating from the 1760s.
