The Stadium of Domitian, built in AD 70-80, was used as a monumental garden as well as a stadium, possibly for foot-races since it is too small for horse or chariot races. This two-story exedra, which served as a grandstand, lies along the mid-point of the elongated grounds.

Marble column bases and shaft fragments show part of the colonnade which surrounded the stadium, This collapsed ca. AD 200, when the garden was rebuilt by Septiumius Severus.
