Located
on the north end of the Forum, the Temple of Jupiter probably dates
from the pre-Roman period, with columns of tuff covered with white
stucco. The large cella is Etruscan in design.With
the reign of Augustus (31 BC-AD 14) the temple beame a capitolium. The
cella walls were painted with murals in the 2nd style. A head of
Jupiter was found here dedicated in AD 37. |
