Pompeii: plan of the Temple of Apollo (Athena Review Image Archive)

The Temple of Apollo is in Regio VII, Insula 7, 32. The forum lies to the right.

The ground plan of the temple dates from the 2nd century BC, and it is the oldest temple in Pompeii. The travertine altar was erected in 80 BC, with an inscription from four officials during the reign of Sulla (82-81 BC). The Ionic column held a sundial and dates from the Augustan period.  The temple was rebuilt after the earthquake of AD 62.
