Pompeii: Via Nola (photo ca. 1900)

The via Nola is one of the two main east-west streets (decumani) of Pompeii, along with the via dell' Abbondanza to the south.

In the foreground, next to a fountain, may be seen stepping stones and deep wagon wheel ruts worn into the paving stones. Both are common sights in the streets of Pompeii.
