The
House of xxx is located at xx xx xx. This view shows the atrium
with impluvium and shrine. The aedicula or family shrine was widely
used in Pompeii houses. Built like a miniature temple with a columned
portico, the shrine had a sacred image painted on the back wall, with
an altar for offerings, here with niches on either side for statues.
