Pompeii: House of the Golden Cupids, impluvium 1

Pompeii: Impluvium 1 in House of the Golden Cupids  (photo: Athena Review)

The House of the Golden Cupids (VI 16, 7) is considered one of the best examples of domestic architecture and painting in the age of Nero.

This view of the atrium shows the roof opening over an impluvium tank. The lower wall has paintings in the 3rd style paintings, and the upper wall in the 4th style. This is one of two impluviums in the house.
