The House of the Faun (VI 12, 2) is the largest in Pompeii and originated in 180-170 BC during the Samnite period.  

This image shows the marble pavement of the Tablinum, which served as a formal reception room in the Houe of the Faun. The geometric pattern showing cubes in perspective was modelled on the flooring of the cellae or shrines of the Temples of Jupiter and Apollo in the Forum.
