The House of the Faun (VI 12, 2) is the largest in Pompeii and originated in 180-170 BC during the Samnite period.

This panoramic view extends from the impluvium in the Tuscan atrium to the first peristyle in the background. The well-known faun statue is in the tiled impluvium.

The mosaic floor in mid distance is the Tablinum, with walls of Samnite construction leading to tricliniums on either side.
