The House of the Faun (VI 12,2) was the largest residence in Pompeii and contains some of the best preserved architectural features, paintings, mosaics, and other artifacts from the ancient town.

The main entrance of the House of the Faun, shown here, was built between 180 and 170 BC in the Samnite style, using large limestone blocks and simple, square colonnades.
