Herculaneum: Plan of Central Baths (Thermae)

Herculaneum: Plan of Central Baths (Athena Review Image Archive)

The Central Baths (Thermae) was divided into separate areas for men's and women's bathing. In this plan, the men's bathing rooms are on the left (west) side, and the women's rooms are on the right (east) side.

South of the Palestra or gynasium area is the Horreum, a public granary storehouse often found in  Roman towns.
