Jerusalem: Al Aqsa, wooden tie beams 6 and 11 (DAP photo 31-170/ AA)


This image (DAP 31-170) shows two of the massive wooden tie beams (#6 and 11) after their removal from the roof of the nave of Al Aqsa Mosque, and the stripping of paint from them.

The Palestine Dept, of Antiquities (DAP) documented al Aqsa Mosque in 1938-1942. Photos, drawings, and R. W. Hamilton`s 1942 report are in the Archives at the Israeli Archaeology Authority (iaa-archives-org.il).
