	Middle Egypt extended from the Nile Delta to the area just north of Thebes. Most of the sites were occupied in multiple eras including the Middle and Late Kingdoms, and Ptolemaic and Roman periods. Many have papyrus documents as well as architectural monuments from these periods. Green areas indicate land irrigated in the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (330 BC-AD 410).
