5th Dynasty pyramids and sun temples at Abusir (Google Earth)
Abusir, located immediately north of Saqqara on the edge of the desert, contained a number of pyramids, temples, and a large 5th Dynasty necropolis.
This image shows the step Pyramid of Sahure (A), and two large sun temples dedicated to Ra, the sun god. These include the sun temple of Userkaf (B), and the sun temple of Niuserre (C), whose pyramid is just to the left of that of Sahure. A portion of irrigated fields in the modern town of Abusir are seen at lower right. Between (A) and (B) [not visible in this image] there are also traces of an unfinished pyramid, possibly that of Shepseskare.
