Ibis mummies from Thebes (French Expedition 1798-1800)    .



Ibis mummies, with wrappings, skulls, and limb bones (Descrip. de l'Egypte, Hist. Nat. vol. IIA, pl. 53, 1809).



The white ibis, a large water bird considered sacred in Egypt and associated with the god Thoth, was frequently mummified and placed in tombs. These examples, showing mummy cases and various ibis parts including skulls and limbs, are from Thebes. .
