Vertault: Dedication of Gallo-Roman bathhouse (thermae)

Vertault: Dedication of bathhouse (Dijon Mus. Arch; Athena Review Image Archive)

Vertillium (Vertault) was a large Gallo-Roman town site near Chatillon-sur-Seine which had some 3,000-5,000 inhabitants. A number of Roman structures have been excavated there, including the bathhouse dedicated in this inscription.

The stela's text records names of local officials, as catalogued in the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum for Roman Gaul (CIL XIII, 5661). The dedication is in the Dijon Museum of Archaeology.
