St. Benin's crypt, dating from AD 1000-1018, has double circular aisles with massive Romanesque columns, pilasters, and arches.

Originating as the church of the Abbey of St. Benignus, the Crypt represents Romanesque architecture, while the overlying church was rebuilt in the 13th century as a Gothic cathedral.
