Sees, on the River Orne, was capital of the Sagii people of Gaul. Thick-walled remains of public buildings have been found with sculpture showing a provincial Late Hellenistic style, including a figure of Bacchus linked to the Gallic god Esus. Roman pottery includes 1st century AD ware from Arezzo.

This silver cup was found in a 3rd century AD Gallo-Roman burial, along with other grave goods including a silver bowl and various glass vessels.
