Autun: Figurine of Minerva by Pistillus (Musee Rolin; photo Athena Review 2012)


This mold-made, terracotta figurine of the goddess Minerva, in fragmentary condition, has been attributed to the late 2nd century AD workshop of Pistillus in Autun.

Minerva (equivalent to Athena, the Greek goddess) has a breastplate with a head of Jupiter, and a very high plume on her helmet. Her right arm wouild have been raised.
