Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus drawing by Mary Anning (1823)

Skeleton of Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus (after Anning 1823, and Conybeare 1824).

Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus was a large Early Jurassic marine vertebrate, dating from 200-195 mya.  It was discovered as a full skeleton by Mary Anning in 1823 in the coastal Blue Lias formation of alternate limestone and mudstone layers at Lyme Regis, in Devonshire, England.

At left is the original drawing of P. dolichodeirus by Mary Anning (1823), which shows the original position of its discovery. At right is a copy by William Conybeare (1824), published in the Transactions of the Geological Society of London along with his anatomical drawings of the skeleton.
